Contract extension enables Telefónica Germany’s continued use of Hansen’s composable – BSS software solutions and places the operator as an early adopter of its new agentic AI capability.
May 29, 2026 – Hansen Technologies (ASX: HSN), a leading global provider of software and services to the communications & media and energy & utilities industries today announced the renewal of its strategic partnership with Telefónica Germany, one of Europe’s leading telecommunications providers.
The renewed agreement is the latest milestone in a relationship built on consistent delivery, and mutual trust developed over several years. It extends Telefónica Germany’s deployment of Hansen’s cloud, AI and API-powered BSS solutions, enabling a fully integrated suite spanning product definition through to order fulfilment. To date, Hansen has supported the successful migration of several million of Telefónica Germany customers onto the cloud-native ecosystem, a testament to the scale, reliability and operational confidence both organisations have built together.
As part of the renewed engagement, Telefónica Germany has been among the first operators to trial Hansen’s pre-integrated agentic AI capability in Catalog. Designed to augment how telecoms manage and evolve their product catalogues, the Catalog agent represents the next step in bringing AI-native functionality directly into core BSS workflows, unlocking the value of AI for network operators.
Scott Weir, President, Communications & Media, Hansen Technologies, said “Telefónica Germany is exactly the kind of forward-thinking operator partner we want to grow with. This renewal reflects not only the depth and maturity of our joint programme, but their ambition to lead on digital transformation. We’re proud to be the platform of choice for this mission-critical part of the ecosystem, as they modernise their operations and explore the next frontier of AI-assisted service management.”
Thomas Bergmann, Director Mass Market, Telefónica Germany, added, “Telefónica Germany is fundamentally modernising how we design, manage and evolve products and services. Our BSS transformation focuses on agility, scalability and preparing our core systems for AI-native capabilities. Renewing the partnership secures the foundation for this next phase – with Hansen as a strong technology partner supporting our journey.”
The deployment is the cornerstone of Telefónica Germany’s BSS programme – one of the most ambitious digital transformation initiatives the industry has seen. The programme is designed to fundamentally modernise Telefonica Germany’s product and service architecture, stripping out legacy complexity and creating the operational agility needed to bring new offerings to market faster in an increasingly competitive market.
The renewal underscores Hansen’s continued momentum in the Tier 1 operator segment in Europe, and its strategy of delivering deeply integrated, TM Forum–compliant, composable BSS solutions that evolve alongside operators’ transformation programmes.
