Actively drivingindustry change through the TM Forum

Hansen is an award-winning member of the TM Forum and over the past 20 years, we have played a key role in advancing their vision of simplifying the IT landscape for the telecommunications industry.

Our commitment stems from our intimate understanding of the challenges at hand, and primarily how legacy IT landscapes are holding operators back from becoming the service leaders of tomorrow.

This is why Hansen remains committed to TM Forum’s standards and best practices, including certifying the appropriate Open APIs and evolving our products in line with the Open Digital Architecture (ODA). Hansen was awarded the prestigious ‘Ready for ODA’ designation at DTW Copenhagen 2023.

Our software applications’ compliance to TM Forum standards can be traced back to 2001 when Hansen’s Enterprise Product Catalog became the first software application to achieve SID conformance.

Over the years, Hansen has participated in a number of TM Forum initiatives, including several Catalyst projects where we demonstrated our innovative solutions and capabilities in various domains and scenarios. Including the recent Zero-Touch Digital Marketplace of which we won the award for ‘Outstanding Catalyst for Business Impact’, at DTW Copenhagen 2022.

Hansen is set to spearhead another Business Impact Catalyst at DTW 2024, this time focusing on the role of AI-driven End-to-End Offer Lifecycle Management.

One of the first vendors to be awarded Ready for ODA

Hansen Catalog has met the stringent criteria of the TM Forum’s ‘Ready for ODA’ standard, a testament to our leading-edge approach in shaping the telecoms industry. This achievement signifies compliance with current benchmarks but also Hansen’s proactive role in the evolution of these standards.

Our engagement with TM Forum’s initiatives ensures that Hansen Catalog is designed not only to integrate seamlessly with today’s digital ecosystems but also to anticipate and facilitate the needs of tomorrow’s landscapes. With this recognition, Hansen reinforces its position as a key enabler for Communication Service Providers to leverage cutting-edge, compliant, and future-oriented BSS capabilities.

Open API Conformance

Hansen’s Open API certifications have reached the level of Silver Status, with Hansen Catalog, our flagship application, being conformant to TMF 620 (Product Catalog Management), TMF 633 (Service Catalog Management), and Hansen Provision being conformant to TMF 638 (Service Inventory) and TMF 641 Service Order Management.

To enrich the end user experience and ensure that a greater number of features and functionality were available out-of-the-box, Hansen has invested heavily in extending the TM Forum standard for each of the APIs we are conformant to, and in a collaborative effort, shared these back with TM Forum to be considered as part of their evolving standards.
The reason for this additional investment, particularly with Hansen Catalog, is down to our deep understanding of industry issues. Specifically, the significant pressures on Communication Service Providers to reimagine their business models, monetise major investments like 5G and sell beyond the network connection.

To support our customers and broader industry, Hansen needed to ensure that our Enterprise Product Catalog models could be fully exposed through the extended TMF Open API interfaces.

This was not just to enabling seamless, standards-based integration with other systems in the BSS stack, along with other external systems, but to facilitate the critical role of Partner Enablement use cases, particularly in the federation of other catalogs and facilitating service discovery.  Delivering this through Open APIs allows Hansen Catalog to interact with and manage partner catalogs in a standards-based manner, empowering CSPs to establish and manage their own marketplace effectively.

As part of our ongoing commitment to ODA and Open APIs, Hansen is committed to the certifications of the following:

  • Product and Service Ordering (TMF 622)
  • Quote Management (TMF 648)

Hansen is listed in the TM Forum ODA component directory.

Hansen’s profile on the ODA directory illustrates how our suite of cloud-native applications mapped into ODA components. Each component in the ODA has a tightly defined specification that ensures interoperability and standardisation across the industry.

To advance the Open Digital Architecture to its next phase, Hansen is leading the component conformance workstream focusing on defining and promoting conformance specifications for different components and interfaces within the ODA. The workstream aims to ensure interoperability and compatibility between components from different technology vendors to enable CSPs to more easily construct their IT landscapes of the future.

Hansen’s commitment to contribute to the evolution of the ODA component and canvas roadmaps is part of our dedication to evolve our products to become certified as ODA Components when such processes come to fruition.
