We’re excited to introduce the Q1 2026 release of Hansen CIS, focusing on removing those friction points across your organization. With improvements to authentication, integrations, system performance, administrative control, and self-service usability, this release helps utilities streamline everyday tasks, strengthen security, and make it easier for teams and customers to interact with your systems.
Here’s what’s new and how it helps your organization move faster with less effort.
MODERN AUTHENTICATION = LESS FRICTION, MORE SECURITY
Logging into systems shouldn’t slow your teams down. Support for OpenID Connect (OIDC) introduces modern single sign-on capabilities using trusted providers such as Microsoft and Okta.
This update moves away from legacy LDAP and database-based logins and enables users to authenticate through familiar identity providers using secure industry standards. The updated login interface also supports flexible configuration of authentication providers while preserving administrative access when needed.
Customer benefits:
- Faster login experience
- Reduced password management burden
- Alignment with modern IT security standards
- Seamless access across devices
FASTER SERVICE THROUGH CONNECTED FIELD OPERATIONS
Disconnected systems often create delays between customer service teams and field crews. The new Cartegraph integration connects Hansen CIS with field asset management workflows in real time.
When service orders are created, updated, or cancelled in Hansen CIS, those changes automatically synchronize with Cartegraph. Likewise, updates from field crews flow back into Hansen CIS so customer service teams always have accurate information.
This connection creates a unified workflow where customer service, field operations, and asset management systems work together seamlessly.
Customer benefits, if you use Cartegraph:
- Faster service completion
- Fewer errors from manual data entry
- Real-time visibility between CSRs and field crews
- Improved meter and asset traceability for compliance
BETTER PERFORMANCE BEHIND THE SCENES
Even systems running smoothly can accumulate hidden friction over time. The Q1 2026 release introduces an automated Database Logging Cleanup Job that manages UTRLOGM database logs through Automated Job Processing Rules (CORAUTO).
This automated process disables logging before clearing outdated entries and runs on a configurable schedule (default: every 24 hours), helping maintain system performance while minimizing administrative effort.
Customer benefits:
- Improved system performance
- Reduced storage overhead
- Less administrative maintenance
SIMPLER ADMINISTRATION, STRONGER GOVERNANCE
Managing user permissions across complex systems can often create unnecessary administrative overhead. Enhancements to the User Direct Module Access Maintenance (CSCUMOD) screen now make it significantly easier to control access across related parts of the system.
Administrators can now manage subordinate modules, such as tabs, dashboards, and wizards, directly when granting access to a parent module. Instead of configuring permissions individually for each component, administrators can include or exclude subordinate modules and adjust permissions in a single step.
This streamlined approach reduces the number of actions required to grant or update access while helping maintain consistent governance across the platform.
Customer benefits:
- Reduced administrative effort when managing permissions
- More consistent access control across modules and submodules
- Faster onboarding and role changes for system users
SECURE DOCUMENT VIEWING
Utilities often manage sensitive customer and operational documents. The new token-based attachment viewing system protects files while maintaining seamless access for authorized users.
Instead of exposing direct file identifiers, attachments are accessed through time-limited tokens validated against user sessions, ensuring only authorized users can view files.
Customer benefits:
- Stronger protection against unauthorized access
- Secure viewing of attachments without workflow disruption
- Continued support for common formats such as PDFs, images, text, and media files

FASTER BILLING WORKFLOWS
Billing workflows should be efficient and uninterrupted. Enhancements to Quick Bill now allow users to immediately print bills after resolving exceptions without leaving the billing process.
A new navigation link allows users to review and resolve billing exceptions directly from the Quick Bill screen, enabling immediate printing without restarting the workflow.
Customer benefits:
- Faster bill processing
- Fewer workflow interruptions
- Improved operational efficiency
INVESTING IN YOUR TEAM’S EXPERTISE
Technology improvements are most effective when teams feel confident using them. The new B.A.S.E. Certification Learning Path provides a structured learning program designed to help utility professionals build foundational system knowledge.
The curriculum includes interactive modules, videos, and assessments that guide users through system concepts, workflows, dashboards, and billing processes.
Customer benefits:
- Faster onboarding for new employees
- Stronger operational understanding of the system
- Greater consistency across teams and processes
