Renewed agreement until 2030 strengthens the technology foundation for evolving energy services, flexible charging models and Vehicle-to-Grid innovation.
August 20, 2026 – Hansen Technologies (ASX: HSN), a leading global provider of software and services to the energy and utilities and communications and media sectors, today announced that Elli, Volkswagen Group Charging GmbH, has extended its use of Hansen powercloud until 2030, reinforcing the platform’s role in supporting Elli’s evolving energy and mobility services.
Powering energy and mobility services
As electric vehicles become a larger part of Europe’s energy system, providers need to connect mobility, billing, customer management and energy market processes with greater speed and flexibility. The renewal reinforces Hansen powercloud’s role as a core platform for Volkswagen Group’s Elli’s energy operations, supporting the company as it develops new services at the intersection of mobility and energy.
Preparing for Vehicle-to-Grid innovation
Since 2021, Hansen powercloud has supported key market and billing processes for Elli. The platform will continue to underpin business-critical operations while providing the scalability, automation and flexibility needed for emerging energy models, including Vehicle-to-Grid.
Vehicle-to-Grid, or V2G, is expected to play a growing role in the energy transition by enabling electric vehicle batteries to act as flexible energy assets, helping balance electricity grids, store renewable energy and create new value for consumers and providers. For companies operating at the intersection of mobility and energy, this shift requires a modern digital backbone that can adapt quickly to new services, partners, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
“Extending our partnership with Hansen is an important step in advancing our long-term growth and innovation objectives,” said Ingo Müller, Vice President Energy at Elli, Volkswagen Group Charging GmbH. “With Hansen powercloud, we have a reliable, proven and highly scalable platform that meets our current requirements while providing the flexibility needed to implement new business models and energy concepts such as Vehicle-to-Grid. The fact that Hansen once again proved to be the right partner through a competitive selection process further validates our decision.”
“We look forward to continuing this partnership and shaping the future together. A particularly important factor in our decision was Hansen’s modern technology infrastructure, including its potential to support advanced AI-enabled workflows. Together with Hansen and our broader partner ecosystem, we aim to rethink and redefine the energy business.”
Responding to a changing energy market
The agreement comes as energy providers across Europe face growing pressure to modernise legacy systems, integrate rapidly changing market processes and deliver new digital services to customers more quickly. Hansen powercloud’s API-centric, cloud-native architecture is designed to support this shift, helping energy providers scale operations, automate complex processes, integrate emerging technologies and respond to regulatory and security requirements.
“We are delighted by Elli’s continued trust and the extension of our long-standing partnership,” said John May, Managing Director of Hansen Technologies Germany and Regional Manager at Hansen Technologies. “Elli is helping define what the future of energy and mobility can look like, and we are proud that Hansen powercloud continues to provide the technology foundation for that journey.”
“Energy providers need platforms that can move at the speed of the market. With Hansen powercloud, Elli has the flexibility to evolve its current operations while building the new business models and customer experiences that will support the energy transition.”
Building for what comes next
Under the renewed agreement, Hansen Technologies Germany will continue to support Elli as it advances digital services that connect electric mobility with the broader energy ecosystem. The partnership reflects both companies’ shared commitment to innovation, digitalisation and a more flexible, sustainable energy system.
